On Sunday 30th June Top Of The State hosted the annual All Clubs Sports Day at the Meerawa club house. As hosts we were joined by Members of The All American Car Club of Cairns, FNQ Restorers, Northern Motoring Club ,the Fat Bastards Car Club and the MG Car Club. The day started early with both the TOTS and AACCC beginning the day with a BBque breakfast from 8am. The venue proved ideal as there was plenty of room for all the participants and activities and plenty of parking for the cars on site. The winning club on the day was the Northern Motoring Club.
Fine weather and a good turnout made for a good weekend at Kurrimine. Plenty of bogans and sheilas at the Saturday night party with TOTS well represented. Colorful display at the show and shine on Sunday morning with a predominance of Australian vehicles with a sprinkling of hot rods and american vehicles.
Quite a few members had a busy weekend and attended the open day at Nelson St on Saturday and the monthly meeting and Poker Run to Innisfail on Sunday. We were lucky to get fine weather on both days and a bonus on Sunday for some members was a visit to Phils to check out his almost completed new rod. Thanks Phil.
Two of our members won best dressed awards on the Poker Run, Julian for the men and Eve for the women.
What a great AGM and well attended, I would like to congratulate the newly elected members of the committee and thank all the members who attended. Our open day went down well with the other car clubs etc. A great rolI up of cars, some I haven’t seen before. A special thanks to Eve and her crew in the kitchen and the Gerard and the boys down stairs on the Barbecue, well done everyone
Thanks also to the Cairns Regional Council for making the club house available.
Thanks to the Cairns Regional Council the club has obtained the exclusive use of the Meerawa Community Hall for club purposes initially for a period of 12 months with review at the end of the term with a view to further extensions. The hall is situated 10klms south of Gordonvale just off the highway. It is an old high set school building on approx 3 acres. These pics are from the December 2018 meeting which was held there.
The club in conjunction with the Northern Motoring Club put on a display at the show on 12th and 13th of July. Those that participated had a great time and the show patrons appreciated the display. Thanks to the Show Society for the invite and for providing a safe and secure area for the the display, the best security I have seen provided at this type of event. Also good to see the two cars from the area under construction which gave the public an understanding the work put into the construction of the cars.
